The passing of Dom DiMaggio was certainly a tremendous loss for the Red Sox as an organization.
DiMaggio spent his entire career in a Red Sox uniform, only leaving the team to serve in World War II. “The Little Professor” was a seven-time All-Star and had a career batting average of .298.
Red Sox principal owner John Henry stopped by the set of Red Sox GameDay Live to talk with Tom Caron and Jim Rice about DiMaggio.
“He was a grand old man of the franchise here, along with Johnny Pesky and Bobby Doerr,” Henry said. “It’s a little tragic because I had been speaking with him recently over the last month about coming to Fenway. There was something we wanted to do to honor him here. Of course, we’re going to be doing that, but it’s tragic that he didn’t live to be a part of that.”
