The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars of the Smithsonian Institution presented the Woodrow Wilson Award for Corporate Citizenship to Red Sox principal owner John W. Henry at a dinner on Nov. 19, 2009 at the Fairmont Copley Hotel in Boston. At the event, Nicholas Negroponte also received the Woodrow Wilson Award for Public Service.

Larry Lucchino, president and CEO of the Boston Red Sox, served as chairman for the event with the Honorable John and Mrs. Diana Negroponte serving as co-chairs.

“Both of these honorees personify the attributes we seek to honor and practice at the Woodrow Wilson Center,” Lee H. Hamilton, president and director of the Woodrow Wilson Center, said. “Their contributions to the Greater Boston area, the nation, and indeed much of the world have been significant, and it gives me great pleasure that our board of trustees has chosen to recognize such worthy honorees.”

The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars is the living national memorial to President Wilson established by Congress in 1968 and headquartered in Washington, D.C. The Center establishes and maintains a neutral forum for free, open and informed dialogue.
