Robinson missed practice Monday with a groin injury, has lost his starting spot to Chris Duhon, and head coach Mike D'Antoni may not allow him to participate in Saturday's dunk contest in Dallas during All-Star weekend, the New York Post reports.
"He has to tell me how he feels," D'Antoni told the Post. "I have no idea how he feels. And if it bothers him, obviously the best thing to do is to rest it."
The 5-foot-9 Robinson dominated last year’s contest, leaping over 6-foot-11 Dwight Howard to win the dunk title.
D'Antoni understands Robinson’s desire to defend his crown, but wants his point guard to get healthy.
"It's a fun weekend, and the NBA has asked him to do something, and he's the defending [champion] — so I can understand why he wants to," D'Antoni told the Post. "But he has to know his body and know what's best for him."
