On Valentine’s Day, love seemed to be in the air at Madison Square Garden. Then Nick proposed to Melissa, and poor Cupid could only shake his head. Or so the unsuspecting crowd thought.

Apparent Rangers fans attending Sunday’s game between New York and Tampa Bay, Melissa stormed away from Nick’s offer to be his “Blueshirt Bride.” The worst fear of every poor soul who ever considered a JumboTron proposal stirred up the local crowd in the second period of the Rangers’ 5-2 victory over the Lightning.

But after the game, the truth came out regarding the proposal gone wrong. According to Ranger Rants, either  Nick and Melissa are a married couple who decided to have some fun on Valentine’s Day or MSG was directly involved in creating the artificial drama.

According to the blog’s source, the not-so-happy protagonists were in fact actors hired from an agency as in-game entertainment, rendering Nick’s ultimate “agony of defeat” moment a total farce.

But you can decide for yourself: actors or stone-cold rejection?
