Less than 24 hours after Montreal’s Maxim Lapierre received a four-game suspension for his hit-from-behind on San Jose’s Scott Nichol on Thursday night, Bruins winger Michael Ryder was tossed from the B’s-Islanders matchup because of a similar incident.
While Lapierre’s dirty play looked intentional, Ryder’s hit on Blake Comeau appeared to be accidental. NESN’s Kathryn Tappen and Barry Pederson take a second look at the hit, which cost Ryder a five-minute penalty and a 10-minute misconduct.
