During the second intermission of the Bruins-Sabres game, Bruins vice president Cam Neely will present the John Carlton Award to Charlie Coyle of Weymouth High School and Marissa Gedman of Noble and Greenough School in Dedham.

The award, named after the late Bruins administrator and scout, is given annually to a male and female high school senior from an Eastern Massachusetts high school or junior hockey league. The recipient is a student-athlete who has demonstrated outstanding hockey skills and academic success.

Coyle was the Eastern Junior Hockey League's Rookie of the Year. He was fifth in the league in scoring with 21 goals, 42 assists and 63 points in 42 games.

Coyle played for USA Hockey's Under-18 team in Slovakia and at the Four Nations tournament in Finland. He is also receiving the award for his academic excellence, and he will be attending Boston University next year.

Gedman, the daughter of former Red Sox catcher Rich Gedman, has played five years of varsity hockey as a defender. She helped her team win two New England championships and five ISL championships. As a part of the team, she also made five appearances at the New England Prep School Championships. In her senior year as captain, she had eight goals and 15 assists for 25 points in 26 games. She is a three-time All League ISL selection.

Gedman has also played for the 2010 USA Women's U-18 national team and Assabet Valley Women's Ice Hockey, where she won five national championships. The female recipient is not only a skilled athlete, but also a top student. She has received six academic distinctions and will be attending Harvard University.
