Umpire Joe West had some strong opinions regarding the long, four-hour affairs that often take place between the Red Sox and Yankees, but was he right?
“It’s pathetic and embarrassing,” West said. “They take too long to play. … A disgrace to baseball.”
While the three games of the opening series weren’t the fastest games in history, they certainly weren’t the longest.
According to the final tally as of 8 a.m. ET on Saturday, 80 percent of voters disagree with West and believe that the games aren’t too long, while 20 percent of voters agree with him.
