Fred Taylor’s best days are most likely behind him and he is now a part of the Patriots’ five-headed running attack. But the former face of the Jacksonville Jaguars is being given the chance to go back to college.

According to the Boston Globe, Taylor was one of six athletes inducted into the University of Florida Athletics Hall of Fame. The former Gator also was inducted into the Palm Beach County Hall of Fame last month.

When Taylor left Gainesville, he was the third-leading rusher in school history, tallying 3,075 yards with 31 touchdowns in his four seasons. Taylor kept defenses on their toes in Steve Spurrier’s “Fun ‘N Gun” offense, and helped the Gators win the 1996 national title.

After his successful college career, the Jaguars drafted Taylor in the first round of the 1998 draft. Taylor was widely underrated during much of his time in Jacksonville, earning just one Pro Bowl selection despite six 1,200-yard seasons and a solid 4.6 yards per carry average.

Taylor only played six games for New England last season due to injury, totaling 269 yards and punching it into the end zone four times.
