Dale Earnhardt Jr. plans to continue a family legacy at Daytona International Speedway in July.
According to FoxSports.com, Earnhardt will resurrect his father's No. 3 car at Daytona in the NASCAR Nationwide Series on July 2.
Earnhardt Jr. has driven the No. 88 AMP Energy /National Guard Chevrolet Impala SS in the NASCAR Sprint Cup for Hendrick Motorsports, but will drive the No. 3 Wrangler Chevrolet in a joint effort between JR Motorsports, Richard Childress Racing and Dale Earnhardt Inc. The No. 3 car will feature a Hendrick Motorsports engine, FoxSports.com reports, citing team sources.
Like his father, Earnhardt Jr. has a personal services contract with Wrangler, the first company to sponsor his father, who also drove a Wrangler-sponsored car in 16 Busch Series (now Nationwide Series) races.
An official announcement is expected on April 29.
