The sudden abdominal pain suffered by Mike Cameron may be the result of kidney stones, according to ESPN.com's Gordon Edes.
"Seems to be a kidney stone that [Cameron] needs to pass," Cameron's agent, Mike Nicotera, told ESPN.com. "He's going to follow up with doctors in Boston today.''
Cameron was a late scratch on Thursday for Boston, as he showed up to the ballpark and said he was feeling pain. He stayed in Minnesota when the team traveled to Boston, and appendicitis was ruled out by doctors.
The report also said that Jacoby Ellsbury is highly unlikely to play on Friday night against the Tampa Bay Rays as he recovers from bruised ribs suffered on Sunday. Trips to the disabled list seem to be possibilities for both outfielders.
While Jeremy Hermida has handled his playing time fairly well thus far, the same can't be said for Bill Hall. The 30-year-old utility man made an error in center field on Thursday afternoon (he made another error at shortstop in his only other start of the year) and he is 0-for-5 on the year. He has drawn three walks in his eight plate appearances, however.
If the Red Sox need reinforcements from Triple-A Pawtucket, it may come from Darnell McDonald, who is batting .393 with four doubles, two homers and seven RBIs in seven games this season. McDonald, 31, saw action in 11 spring training games this year, batting .412 in 17 at-bats.
