On Thursday night, Kevin Millar joined the crew at NESN. The architect of the “Cowboy Up” rallying cry had something special for Tom Caron and Jim Rice: shots of what appeared to be Jack Daniels whiskey.
“I don’t know how you roll now, but in ’04 this is what we did,” Millar said before taking the shot.
You’ll have to check out the video to see exactly what the crew took shots off.
Millar, of course, said that the 2004 team did shots of Jack Daniels before going out and vanquishing the Yankees.
“The spirit of 2004 lives in the show tonight,” Caron said.
Millar is certainly popular both on the show and in the clubhouse as evidenced by the players congregating around Millar prior to the game. Manager Terry Francona, who skippered Millar in 2004 and 2005, had something to say about the former first baseman’s new role on NESN.
“I should be speechless,” he quipped. “I am embarrassed for television.”
