Brian Ickler made his Roush Fenway Racing debut last Saturday. This week, the Nationwide Series driver will tackle another first in Nashville.

Ickler — who finished in 15th place in his team debut at Charlotte — will take to the 1.33-mile Nashville Motor Speedway for the Federated Auto Parts 300 on June 5.

"We had a pretty good finish last week at Charlotte and I really think we can take what we learned there as a team and build on it," Ickler said.

Though ordinary at first glance, the 15th-place run puts Ickler in the company of some of Roush Fenway’s elite. Among active drivers, only Matt Kenseth (fifth), Carl Edwards (10th) and Paul Menard (sixth) have had better finishes in their debut with the team.

Crew chief Ben Leslie doesn’t consider the performance a flash in the pan.

"He gave us very good car feedback during the race, which is so crucial when trying to make adjustments to make the car better," Leslie said. "He is an incredible talent and has great potential."
