Heidi Watney caught up with Red Sox catcher Victor Martinez on Red Sox Monster Monday.
Martinez was excited, albeit a little nervous, to return to Progressive Field in Cleveland, where he spent the first eight years of his career before he was traded to the Red Sox last year.
“It’s pretty special,” said Martinez. ”As soon as I parked in the parking lot my heart started to beat a little faster.”
Martinez said that it was a little weird going to the visitors’ locker room. The catcher is thriving in Boston, but still relishes his time in Cleveland.
“They [the Indians] care so much about their players,” Martinez added.
As far as Martinez’s injured toe is concerned, he seems pretty confident that the worst is far behind him.
“It’s almost 100 percent. It feels good.”
