The fact that it is 100 percent impossible to try to gauge the talent levels of the NFL's 32 teams in July, preseason power rankings garner a lot of attention.

ESPN.com's rankings, which are determined by John Clayton, James Walker, Paul Kuharsky and Mike Sando, list the Colts as the top team in the league, with the Saints at No. 2.

The Patriots are ranked ninth, two spots behind the division-rival Jets.

The list is rounded out by the Rams at No. 32, a spot that may belong to St. Louis for the duration of the season.
