Victor Martinez Plays Soccer at Fenway to Stay in Shape

Victor Martinez Plays Soccer at Fenway to Stay in Shape The Red Sox’ disabled list dwellers are finding multiple ways to stay active during their stints on the sideline.

On Wednesday, Dustin Pedroia was taking grounders from his knees during pregame, and on Friday Night Fenway, NESN’s Tom Caron caught up with catcher Victor Martinez to see what he’s been up to during his healing process.

Earlier in the week, Martinez took part in a mini-soccer match with a few young Red Sox fans, representing his favorite team, Brazil.

“I used to play soccer a lot with my friends back home when I was a little kid,” Martinez mentioned during the interview. “It was tough to see the Brazil loss today, but these things happen.”
