In one of the most tense situations you could ever imagine on a baseball field, the Fairfield, Conn., Little League team won the New England regional final and advanced to the Little League World Series.

Fairfield held on for a 1-0 win over Cumberland, R.I., in the regional final that took place in Bristol, Conn., on Saturday night.

With a full count and the bases loaded with two outs in the bottom of the sixth, Fairfield reliever Eddie Magi struck out the only batter he faced to seal the win for the Little Leaguers from Fairfield.

Nick Nardone was nearly flawless for Fairfield and was backed by a solo home run off the bat of Tom Ryan for the game's only run.

Tyler Calabro was outstanding on the mound for the Cumberland squad, as well.

Fairfield will represent New England at the Little League World Series later this week in Williamsport, Pa.
