Former Red Sox pitcher Roger Clemens will reportedly be indicted by federal authorities for perjury in his statements to Congress on his alleged use of performance-enhancing drugs.

The New York Times is reporting that an announcement will come soon in the indictment of Clemens, two and a half years after he testified under oath during a hearing before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

At that hearing, Clemens' former trainer and friend Brian McNamee accused Clemens of using performance-enhancing drugs, something Clemens denied, saying that his former trainer made up the allegations.

Shortly after the announcement was made, Clemens responded via Twitter saying that he was looking forward to getting the chance to defend himself.

"I never took HGH or Steroids," he wrote. "And I did not lie to Congress. I look forward to challenging the Governments accusations, and hope people will keep an open mind until trial. I appreciate the support I hve been getting. I am happy to finally have my day in court."
