Shaquille O’Neal Tries His Hand at Gangsta Rap With ‘Strait Playin’ Video

Shaquille O’Neal‘s hip-hop career generally didn’t go the direction of gangsta rap, but that wasn’t totally for lack of trying.

In 1996, O’Neal released “Strait Playin'” (spelling “strait” like the body of water), with a video featuring all sorts of token rap gimmicks, such as rolling in an old-school convertible in front of a green screen, random women on a bed, random parties, and booty shaking.

Needless to say, it didn’t quite work out, as seen below.
