Bring on the smack talk. It only heightens the anticipation heading into Sunday's matchup between the New England Patriots and the New York Jets.
A surprisingly chatty Randy Moss called in to ESPN Tuesday afternoon to clear the air on his postgame chat with the media on Sunday.
During his conversation with ESPN, comments made by Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis were brought to Moss' attention. During the offeseason, while playing a word association game on the NFL Network, Revis referred to Moss as a "slouch."
Moss shrugged off the comment but made sure to remind Revis that he's coming to the New Meadowlands on Sunday to show what a "slouch" is made of.
"Words don't really hurt me. I guess he's entitled to say what he wants to say," Moss said. "Then again, we're coming to the Meadowlands on Sunday, man, so you got 60 minutes of this 'slouch.' I don't really get into the trash talking, but if what he called me was a 'slouch,' then I guess the 'slouch' will be there to see you on Sunday."
Revis definitely did his job against Moss last season, holding the Patriots' wide receiver to nine catches for 58 yards and just one touchdown in two games. Moss isn't one to roll over and accept defeat, however, and said he has prepared for his rematch with Revis during the offseason.
"I'm not taking anything from him, he did some good things to be the shutdown corner that he is — I'm not here to say that I prided my offseason on Revis," Moss said. "But like I said, I take pride in what I do. What he did last year was something that — he opened my eyes up as a wide receiver. That there's a cornerback out here where I have to be on my A-game. I prided my offseason on staying off Revis Island."
