Diana Taurasi is arguably the best women’s basketball player in the universe. Soon enough, she’ll show the world that she’s all human as the 28-year-old hoopster will appear nude in ESPN The Magazine’s upcoming “Body Issue.”

Taurasi is one of 45 athletes who will appear nude or partially nude.

Taurasi stated, when asked about being on the cover, “I am who I am, whether I have clothes on or not. Doing the shoot was something, and I had fun with it.

“Doing the shoot was something new and I had fun with it,” she added. “For me, doing this was about facing the challenge and celebrating everything all of our bodies have been through and done.”

The former UConn Huskies standout and first overall pick in the 2004 WNBA draft won several major awards in 2009, including the WNBA Peak Performer Award, the WNBA Most Valuable Player Award and the Finals MVP Award. She is also a gold medal winner with Team USA in the 2004 Olympics in Athens.

The “Body Issue” first hit newsstands in 2009. Bruins captain Zdeno Chara represented Boston in last year’s issue, and Celtics guard Nate Robinson will be in this year’s issue.
