Report: Dan Uggla Dealt to Braves for Omar Infante, Mike Dunn The Red Sox once had hopes of acquiring Marlins second baseman Dan Uggla to fill a presumable void left at third base by free agent Adrian Beltre, but now that seems all but impossible.

The Braves and Marlins have reportedly worked out a deal to send Uggla to Atlanta in exchange for super-utility man Omar Infante and left-handed reliever Mike Dunn, according to ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick.

The 30-year-old Uggla had his best offensive season in 2010, as he smacked 33 homers, drove in 105 runs and posted an .877 OPS, all career highs.

Infante is also coming off the best year of his career, as the 28-year-old made his first All-Star team while hitting .321 with 151 hits. A career utility man, Infante has played every position but first base, catcher and pitcher.

Dunn, meanwhile, appeared in 25 games for the Braves in 2010, striking out 27 batters in just 19 innings and posting a terrific 1.89 ERA in the small sample. He also walked 17 hitters, however.

Uggla will likely take over the second base duties from All-Star Martin Prado, who will assumedly start the season at third base while future Hall of Famer Chipper Jones recovers from the torn ACL he suffered in August. When Jones returns, Prado, a pretty flexible defensive player, will see time at first base and left field.
