Report: Giants Sign Miguel Tejada to One-Year Deal The Giants didn’t take long to fill the void Juan Uribe left in the infield after he signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

ESPN Deportes’ Enrique Rojas reports San Francisco has agreed to a one-year, $6.5 million deal with Miguel Tejada, who started the 2010 season in Baltimore but was traded to San Diego on July 29.

Tejada, the 2002 AL MVP as a member of the Oakland A’s, hit .269 with 15 homers and 71 RBIs last year while splitting time with the Orioles and Padres. The 36-year-old finished the season as San Diego’s shortstop, though he started the year at third base for Baltimore.

Tejada could play shortstop for the Giants, who have lost Uribe and will assuredly lose 2010 World Series MVP Edgar Renteria, who may retire. Then again, San Francisco has been linked in trade rumors to Rays shortstop Jason Bartlett. If the Giants acquire Bartlett as well, Tejada will almost certainly play third.
