Wayne Rooney is back.

Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson announced that Rooney will likely see bench time in Saturday's match against Wigan, and will definitely play on Wednesday against Rangers FC.

"I don't think he'll start [Saturday],'' Ferguson said, according to ESPN. "Maybe he will reach the bench. But he will certainly play on Wednesday against Rangers.''

The striker will have a chance to make it up to fans who were angry at Rooney's initial refusal to re-sign with Man U. He signed a five-year contract extension at the end of October.

Rooney had 34 goals with United last season but struggled early this season before being sidelined by an ankle injury. In five games, he has one goal and three assists.
