Bruins, Celtics, Bob’s Discount Furniture Team Up for Blood Drive to Celebrate $100,000 High School Heroes Scholarship Program

Bruins fans are used to associating blood with the TD Garden, but this weekend at the North End arena, they will be donating it, as opposed to seeing it get mopped up off the ice surface.

Bob’s Discount Furniture is teaming up with the B’s and Celtics to host a blood drive and free family event on Saturday, Jan. 29.

“We are thankful to Bob’s Discount Furniture, the Boston Bruins and the Boston Celtics for supporting this unique community partnership and enabling generous volunteer blood donors to help patients by supporting this fun family event celebrating the $100,000 High School Heroes Scholarship Program,” stated Donna M. Morrissey, director of communications, American Red Cross — Northeast Division. “We hope that eligible blood donors will bring friends and family to TD Garden on January 29 to participate in a chance to make a difference in the life of others.”

Bob Kaufman, president of Bob’s Discount Furniture, will make a special appearance to celebrate “Bob’s Discount Furniture $100,000 High School Heroes Scholarship Program,” which recognizes outstanding high school seniors in Massachusetts and Connecticut who have made exceptional contributions to their schools’ volunteer blood donor programs.

In addition to free parking and free tours of the locker rooms, some lucky fans will walk away with Bruins tickets, an autographed Bruins hockey stick, autographed Bruins hockey pucks and Bruins jerseys autographed by the Bruins team and individual players.

Lucky participants also may win Celtics tickets, autographed Celtics championship team basketballs, Celtics photographs and mini-basketballs autographed by various players.

Bruins and Celtics legends also will be on hand to welcome in the donors and their families. B’s mascot “Blades” and C’s mascot “Lucky” will be joined by the Bruins Ice Girls and Celtics dancers as well.
