Report: Albert Pujols Planning to Veto Any Trade Cardinals May Involve Him In

It's still unclear whether or not St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols will start the 2011 season with a new contract. One thing that is beginning to become clear, is that Pujols isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

According to ESPN.com, Pujols will excercise his power to veto any trade the Cardinals may attempt to make for the superstar first baseman.

Pujols, who is set to become a free agent following the 2011 season, has given the team a deadline for talks on a contract extension. If Pujols and the Cards can't come to an agreement on an extension before Feb. 19 — the start of spring training — Pujols has indicated he will be done talking extension. He's made it clear that he doesn't want to negotate with the club during the season.
