Pint-Sized Center Nathan Gerbe Starts Ill-Advised Shoving Match With 6-Foot-9 Defenseman Zdeno Chara

Nathan Gerbe is listed as 5-foot-5 on the Buffalo Sabres roster, which makes him one of the shortest — if not the shortest — player in the NHL.

At 6-foot-9, Bruins captain Zdeno Chara is the tallest NHL player of all time. Put him on skates, and the B’s defender stands 7-feet tall.

Why Gerbe decided to start a shoving match with Chara in the middle of their Thursday night matchup, we may never know — but it made for a funny highlight. Their sparring match was broken up fairly quickly, but the vast height difference between the two players is nonetheless entertaining.
