Bruins-Canadiens Wild Second Period Includes Line Brawl, Goalie Fight and Eight Goals

This is the way a storied rivalry should play out.

The Bruins and the Canadiens played through a wild second period on Thursday night at the TD Garden, where the sold-out crowd was treated to more than their fair share of excitement.

Six goals were scored before a huge line brawl broke out between the Original Six rivals. A hit by Bruins rookie Brad Marchand started the melee, and it was capped by a goalie fight between two all-star netminders in Tim Thomas and Carey Price.

You could tell Bruins' defenseman Zdeno Chara was itching to get at Max Pacioretty, who delivered a cheap nudge after the Habs defeated the Bruins in overtime on Jan. 8, but he couldn't get a clear shot during the brawl.
