The additions of Carl Crawford and Adrian Gonzalez make Terry Francona‘s job that much harder when filling out the lineup card. At least the skipper won’t have to worry about hurting Dustin Pedroia‘s feelings.
“I’ve [hit ninth] before … and I was hitting lasers in the nine spot,” the former AL MVP said on Thursday’s Dennis and Callahan Show. “It doesn’t really matter.”
Pedroia admitted that when he hit leadoff in the past, it affected his approach at the plate, but he said that he has learned from it.
“If you don’t change your mind-set, you’ll be fine,” he said. “If they want me to hit leadoff, I’ll hit leadoff. It doesn’t matter.”
Pedroia also answered questions about following Jason Varitek as the next Red Sox captain and sent a not-so-friendly message to former teammate Curt Schilling. Check it all out in the video above.
