Josh Beckett Displays Mild Concussion Symptoms, Sent Home by Red Sox

When Josh Beckett was struck in the head with an errant ball early Monday, he was believed to have escaped any serious harm. Just a few hours later, however, the news was less positive.

Beckett was checked out by a doctor, displayed mild concussion symptoms and was sent home by the team, according to NESN.com's Tony Lee.

The Red Sox will provide an update on Beckett's status on Tuesday.

The 30-year-old was in the outfield prior to Monday's spring training game against the Twins when an errant ball hit him in the head. According to ESPN.com's Joe McDonald, the ball came off the bat of staff assistant Ino Guerrero, who was attempting to hit the ball into a bucket.
