NESN Vault: Ted Williams Shows Up at Red Sox Spring Training in 1984, Hits Fungos and Offers Batting Tips


The 1984 Red Sox — featuring Wade Boggs, Jim Rice and a 21-year-old Roger Clemens — finished fourth in the AL East at 87-76. That season, though, began in the spring in Winter Haven, Fla., with Ted Williams hitting fungos and offering batting tips.

Aetna Strikeouts for A Cause

For every strikeout by a Red Sox pitcher at Fenway Park in June, Aetna will donate $250 to Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program. Through June 25, the donation mark stands at $30,000.
