The year was 1993, and the air at spring training was ripe with anticipation.
The past season was a forgettable one for the Red Sox, as they finished dead last in the division. Adding insult to injury, future hall of famer Wade Boggs signed with the hated New York Yankees, where he would go on to enjoy tremendous success.
Two of the bright spots for Sox fans was a solid performance the year before from Roger Clemens and the breakout year for young first baseman Mo Vaughn.
