Fans are wondering how things will unfold for Red Sox shortstops in 2011, despite last year's shortstop, Marco Scutaro, being one of the most reliable members of the 2010 club.

Jed Lowrie, healthy and ready to prove himself in 2011, is currently penciled in as a backup shortstop and utility infielder. The switch-hitter is entering his fourth MLB season and likely itching for a starting job — a role he'll be pushing hard for this spring in Fort Myers.

The Sox also have a hot prospect in the farm system in Jose Iglesias. The smooth-fielding 21-year-old from Cuba has been wowing fans with his glove work since joining the franchise in 2009.
