Nani‘s in the headlines again, but it isn’t for faking injuries or headbutting other players, like many fans are used to reading.

During Sunday’s match at Anfield, Liverpool’s Jamie Carragher tackled the controversial midfielder and earned himself a yellow card.

Though the injury seemed minor at first, as Nani immediately jumped up to argue his case with the official, he quickly fell back to the ground in tears. When the trainer came to assess the damage, cameras caught a look at a deep gash on his leg that ran several inches long.

He was eventually carried off the field on a stretcher.

According to the BBC, Carragher attempted to apologize for the incident after the match. A spokesman for the team said that the injury would be assessed Monday.

Videos of the tackle and graphic photos have been circulating around the Internet since the injury occurred.
