Report: Yankees Show Interest in Mets Castoff Oliver Perez After five years of inconsistent performance, the Mets actually paid $12 million to get rid of left-handed pitcher Oliver Perez.

Now the cross-town Yankees have reportedly had discussions about bringing in the lefty as a cheap insurance policy for the back end of their rotation, reports John Heyman of SI.com.

Initial reports have Yankees general manager Brian Cashman lukewarm on the idea of bringing in the 29-year-old left-hander.

During his time with the Mets Perez compiled a record of 29-29 with a 4.71 ERA, while averaging 8.6 strikeouts per nine innings.
