By now, most have heard of BYU's controversial decision to dismiss basketball player Brandon Davies from the basketball team for the rest of the season. In the aftermath of the school's punishment, Davies has been receiving support from famous athletes.

Knicks center Amare Stoudemire  used Twitter to back Davies, who was kicked off the team for violating the BYU honor code after admitting to having premarital sex with his girlfriend.  Now, Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow is lending his support to Davies, according to ESPN.com.

"I do always think that people definitely deserve second chances because no one is perfect and we mess up everyday," Tebow told the Orlando Sentinel. "There should be a punishment, but I don't know that he should maybe … I don't know. I don't even know the situation, but I just always think about giving people a second chance. Maybe he deserves one, but I don't know the situation."

Stoudemire was crasser when expressing his feelings via Twitter: "P.S.With his girlfriend. Come on BYU don't kick the kid out of school. Let's be honest he is n college. Let's the kid live a little."

However, Stoudemire was wrong in saying that Davies was being kicked out of school.

On Sunday, Stoudemire seemed to recant and backpedal on his previous statements, once again taking to social media, saying, "I totally understand the actions of BYU, I totally respect the school an the conduct rules. BYU has a great athletic program."

Even though Davies violated the code, he can still be with his teammates on campus and watch practices.
