New York Knicks fans learned on Saturday night that Carmelo Anthony brings more than just incredible basketball skills to the city.

This past Saturday, the newest member of the Knicks showed off his acting skills, taking part in New York’s own Saturday Night Live, theScore.com reports. Anthony made two cameo appearances in the episode hosted by Elton John, including one sketch where he acted alongside Tom Hanks.

In the sketch with Hanks, Melo plays a women’s shot put player, Carmela St. Nix. He is also featured in an SNL Digitial Short during which he plays himself in the recurring Laser Cats: The Musical. Elton John is also featured in the short, playing the evil Droz.

Although his performance was short, Anthony scored major points with fans of the show since he was clearly not afraid to be funny and make a fool of himself. His NBA counterparts, Lebron James and Dwyane Wade, were criticized for their SNL performances because it was obvious they were trying to maintain a certain image.
