Jason Varitek Spends Off Day Playing Wiffle Ball With Local Kids to Benefit Good Sports

What better way to spend a nice spring afternoon than playing wiffle ball in the backyard?

Red Sox captain Jason Varitek spent one of his off days doing just that, playing wiffle ball with a group of local children in Weston, Mass., on Thursday afternoon.

The event raised money and awareness for Good Sports, a local organization that increases youth participation in sports and fitness by donating sports equipment to underprivileged children.

Varitek said he had a great day out on the field, and said it brought back a few memories of his childhood when he was often found outside playing wiffle ball.
