Kenny Dalglish Confirms Liverpool Captain Steven Gerrard Is Out for the Season The Reds are going to have to play the remainder of the season without their captain.

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish confirmed reports that Steven Gerrard will be out for the remainder of the season due to injury problems, ESPN.com reports.

Gerrard had just recently attempted to return to play after groin surgery, but sustained another similar injury last week. Dalglish and the medical staff ran assessments all week and confirmed that it would be better to keep the captain on the sidelines.

An official doctor's report has yet to be released, but Dalglish said that no matter the outcome of the medical analysis, Gerrard is out.

"We still don't know definitively what the problem is,'' he said. "We will wait to get a precise answer from the people that he has to see but he won't be involved again this season.''

The Reds are also playing without defender Daniel Agger, who went down against West Brom on Saturday, as well as backs Glen Johnson and Martin Kelly, who are both out for the next month.
