Like many members of the Boston Red Sox, Kevin Youkilis got out to a slower start than expected in 2011.
Despite the early season struggles, Youk's plate production is starting to pick up and he currently leads the team in RBIs (14) and home runs (5).
According to NESN analyst Dennis Eckersley, Red Sox fans should not be worried about Youkilis and his slow start. Eck still believes that Youkilis will finish the season with 30-plus home runs and will be one of the prominent leaders of the 2011 Red Sox.
"He is a threat, everybody in the league knows this guy is the real deal," Eckersley said of Youkilis. "He just didn't start off very well … He is the run producer, and I think he's going to be fine. He's going to end up hitting .300 with 30 jacks and 100 RBIs."
