The Bruins went to Montreal on Tuesday with a chance to end the series on enemy territory. Unfortunately for the B's, things didn't go as planned and the two teams will have to make a quick turnaround for the winner-take-all bout on Wednesday night.
The Bruins and Habs have slugged it out all season and this series has been no different. Montreal jumped out to an early 2-0 series lead, before the Bruins rattled off three straight wins. Claude Julien's team couldn't put things away at Bell Centre, but lucky for them, they did have a game in hand.
The B's outplayed Montreal for the most part in Game 6, but a couple of questionable calls left the Bruins with a pair of 5-on-3 shorthanded situations in which the Habs were able to cash in on for their only two goals.That wasn't the only special team failure, either, as the Bruins continued to look out of sorts on the power play yet again.
Still, despite the fact the Canadiens come back to Boston with the momentum, Boston can take solace in the fact that, despite the final score, they played a tough Game 6. Their decision-making was questionable at times, but you have to think that if they can straighten that out in front of what's sure to be a rowdy TD Garden crowd, they should have the upper hand.
Of course, though, the Bruins are also working against history. They've lost their last four Game 7 matchups with three of those coming in the Julien era. Two of those Game 7 defeats also happened to come at the hands of the Habs.
It's only fitting that they'll have to try to end that skid against the Canadiens, who just happen to be the last team the Bruins beat in a Game 7, knocking out Montreal in the first round of the 1994 playoffs.
