Liverpool’s chances at signing Newcastle left back Jose Enrique seem to have been boosted, as Newcastle is reportedly interested in Paul Konchesky as a replacement option.

According to Goal.com, this could result in a potential player-plus-cash deal for Enrique, who has widely been rumored to be on his way to Anfield in the summer.

Konchesky came to Liverpool from Fulham with Roy Hodgson this past summer, but the 29-year-old failed to settle at Anfield, and he has been on loan at Nottingham Forest since January.

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew worked with Konchesky during their days at West Ham, and the two enjoy a good rapport, reports ChronicleLive.co.uk.

With £35 million in the bank after the Andy Carroll transfer, Newcastle is expected to be very active in the summer market.
