Led by star Carl Edwards, Roush Fenway Racing is off to a blazing start in 2011.

Last Saturday’s win by Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was the team’s seventh of the year so far (Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series combined), marking Roush’s fastest start since 2005 and its third best overall since entering NASCAR competition in 1988.

“It’s a testament to the hard work everybody has been doing,” team owner Jack Roush said in a release. “There’s a lot of discussion about hard work in this business, but the Roush Fenway guys have really suited up for it during the winter, and the manufacturer part with Ford is working well.

“The manufacturing piece that is headed up by [general manager] Robbie Reiser and the job that he does with all the managers in the shop is just extraordinary. I can’t imagine anybody is doing a better job than they are today at getting these cars ready.”

Entering Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600, Edwards currently sits atop the Sprint Cup standings, while Stenhouse Jr. is just nine points behind the Nationwide Series leader.
