Canucks Found to Have Locker-Room Motivation After Kevin Bieksa Mocks Vintage Bruins Jacket

Since March, the Boston Bruins have celebrated the player of the game by handing him a somewhat nasty-looking Bruins jacket, which Andrew Ference purchased on eBay. It's become a fun way for the players to enjoy a victory, and it became a bit of a rallying point last week, after Nathan Horton, out for the series with a concussion, was present after Boston's Game 4 victory to hand off the jacket.

While it's a fun little story in Boston, Canucks defenseman Kevin Bieksa wasn't much of a fan.

"Don't peewee teams have that?" Bieksa asked reporters, according to FoxSports.com. "We don't have one. We don't need little awards like that. There's enough at stake, enough motivation, for us. So whatever works for them. We have our own things that we do, and other teams have their own things that they do."

A little investigative digging by reporters on Monday now tells us the things that Bieksa speaks of.

The Canadian Press reports that in the Canucks' dressing room is a board with a picture of the Stanley Cup on the top of a mountain, with the words "No shortcuts to the top" at the bottom. After each Vancouver victory, someone adds a carabiner.

"You're not supposed to know about that my friend," Bieksa said. "You've got privileged information. That's something we don't talk about, that's our own personal thing. That's our jacket."
