Kevin Faulk Feeling ‘Fine’ During His Return to Football Field

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Patriots running back Kevin Faulk is a man of his word.

When he tore his ACL in Week 2 last season, Faulk refused to predict his football future. Instead, he said he would rehab and prepare himself for the 2011 season.

If all went well and he felt he could help the Patriots, great. If not, he thought, well, that's the way it goes.

Faulk's recovery process took a new step Thursday, when he reported to Tom Brady's orchestrated workouts at Boston College. Faulk was one of 47 Patriots in attendance at Alumni Stadium, and he looked like his normal, elusive, jovial self.

"I'm fine," Faulk said. "I'm trying to get back into form, that's all."

Faulk, the Patriots' second-round draft pick in 1999, turns 35 Sunday. After recovering from the most serious injury of his 12-year career, Faulk still wouldn't tip his cap to his plans for the upcoming season.

One thing is an absolute certainty, though: His presence at Thursday's workout — which had a minimal amount of medical personnel on hand — was a very positive sign for his future.

"It's football," Faulk said. "It's an injury that happened a while ago. That's why they've got technology with doctors. [The medical field] is advanced right now, so just pray to God and keep going on. That's all."
