“The Bruins have gotten big performances from a number of players, led by Tim Thomas, who could win the Conn Smythe even if the Bruins lose the series,” writes NESN.com Bruins reporter Douglas Flynn. “Zdeno Chara and Dennis Seidenberg have done an excellent job shutting down Vancouver’s top line, Brad Marchand, Rich Peverley, Mark Recchi and Michael Ryder have all come up with big goals at different points.
“The one player the Bruins need more from, though, is Milan Lucic,” he added. “He’s provided some key plays, scoring their first goal of the series in Game 2 and making a great rush down the right wing around Kevin Bieksa to set up Boston’s fourth goal in Game 4. But overall, Lucic hasn’t been the dominant force he was in the regular season and in his past playoff appearances.
“He’s capable of changing a game with his physical play and has shown a knack for coming up with cutch goals in the past. The Bruins need one of those vintage Lucic performances now against his hometown team.”
