After reportedly bidding £13 million for 20-year-old England international Jordan Henderson this past week, Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has apparently upped the bid to £18.5 million, an offer that Sunderland manager Steve Bruce may not be able to refuse, according to the Daily Mirror.
With Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson long rumored to be interested in Henderson, Bruce has been said to have known that his club would be unable to keep Henderson, and that his best course of action would simply be to extract the greatest possible value from his young star.
Liverpool, though, appear to have beaten United to the punch, and the deal could be completed prior to Henderson's participation in the upcoming Under-21 European Championships in Denmark.
Henderson himself is said to be confident that the deal will go through and eager to tie up the switch, according to Goal.com.
