It looks like two key players for the Revolution might not be returning to the team next season.

The team announced Thursday that they are declining the contract options on midfielder Marko Perovic and forward Ilija Stolica. The announcement came just two days before the July 1 contract guarantee deadline.

Perovic's option was declined after not even playing two seasons with New England. He played in all but one match and was voted the 2010 Revolution MVP, scoring a team-leading six goals to go along with three assists that year. Perovic, 27, notched one goal and one assist earlier this season before having season-ending knee surgery on June 2. The injury will cause him to miss six to nine months.

Stolica, 31, was with the club for less than a year. He scored four goals and added two assists in his time with the Revs, starting in 13 matches.
