While Roush Fenway’s Carl Edwards didn’t take the checkered flag at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Sunday, he still did enough to reclaim the Sprint Cup points lead.
Edward finished in 13th position in the race, which was won by Ryan Newman. Edwards said “persistence” was the word of the day, as he raced a good car but not a superior car.
He said while he wouldn’t normally be proud of a 13th place finish, he is pleased that he did enough to capture the top spot in the Sprint Cup standings.
Edwards even joked that Golden Tate himself wouldn’t have been able to pass anybody on Sunday.
To hear what else Edwards had to say when he caught up with NESN’s Jayme Parker after the race, check out the video above from NESN Daily.
