Darren Clarke's 'Very Good Night' After British Open Victory Celebration Carries Into Monday Interviews There's no doubt Darren Clarke earned his Sunday night celebration following his British Open victory at Royal St. George's. The 42-year-old won the Open in his 20th attempt after a surge back to the top of the golf world.

However, he probably could have used a day before having to return to the course for interviews and pictures. After all, he still seemed a bit under the weather Monday morning.

"I have not been to bed yet," Clarke said at the Monday morning session . "I probably won't get any sleep until tomorrow at some stage. You have to enjoy it while you can.

"It's been a very good night."

Rory McIlroy, winner of the U.S. Open and Clarke's fellow Northern Irishman, also vouched for Clarke's good night via his twitter Monday morning.

"Just off the phone with the champion golfer of the year….. He must have had a good one last night!!! Think he's still drunk! Lol."
