Like most professional athletes, there was a time when pitcher Manny Delcarmen was relevent. For instance, the righty contributed a 2.05 ERA in 44 appearances for the 2007 World Series champion Boston Red Sox.

Less than four years later, it seems like Delcarmen's days in the majors are numbered.

On Wednesday, the Rangers cut ties with the 29-year-old, according to Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News. Pitching in Triple-A this season, Delcarmen compiled a 5.59 ERA between the Round Rock Express (Texas) and Tacoma Rainiers (Seattle). His 7.7 strikeouts per nine innings was a positive, but his 3.5 walks per nine and 52 hits in 38-plus innings negated that.

After pitching for Colorado in 2010, Delcarmen signed a minor-league deal with Seattle this past offseason despite reportedly having a major-league offer from an NL team. He opted out of his contract in June and signed with Texas.

In 298 career appearances, Delcarmen is 11-8 with a 3.97 ERA. His best year was with Boston in 2008, when he appeared in 73 games, posting a 3.27 ERA with 18 holds and 8.72 K/9.
